Philosophy

All children deserve the opportunity to grow and learn in an environment of nurturing and respect. We strive to meet each child's individual needs, establish meaningful care relationships, and build a love of learning by meeting children where they are developmentally.

These early years are all about exploration, discovery, and emotional growth. Your child will begin to make sense of their ever-expanding world by touching, smelling, seeing, and (sometimes) tasting everything they can. As your child's teachers, it is our job to facilitate that exploration by providing them with ample opportunities and materials.

Maria Montessori said, “Play is the Work of the Child,” and we believe that. Therefore, LLCC has a play-based emergent curriculum. That means that what we learn and explore each day comes from the children's interests. For example, suppose a child is particularly interested in trucks. In that case, we will use trucks to integrate math, literacy, and physical skills into our play by counting rocks as we load them into the dump truck, reading books like Goodnight Construction Site, and using our trucks to navigate obstacle courses.

All children are little scientists. We are here to help them test their hypotheses about the world and spark a joy of discovery through play in a safe environment that meets their social and emotional needs. In our space, your child will interact with peers, express themselves artistically, get messy, and take safe risks.  While safety is our teacher's number one priority, We do more than simply supervise. We have our hands in the Play-Doh, with clothes covered in paint. We sing. We dance. We play. Teachers and children are co-learners at LLCC.

We respect, love, and value all families. LLCC is a safe place with a strict no-discrimination policy. We welcome families of every cultural, religious, and economic background and are LGBTQIA+ friendly.

We look forward to learning and growing with your child!
